October 2025, Bird watching at Ham Wall, Glastonbury Views and Steam Gala

🍂 Autumn Adventures in Somerset

Four days of misty skies and magical moments—Somerset in
October didn’t disappoint!

🏞️ Glastonbury: Myth, Majesty & The Tor

We kicked off our trip revisiting the legendary town of
Glastonbury. The Tor offered sweeping views across the Somerset Levels to the
Severn Estuary and even Wales! Wandering through town felt like stepping into a
storybook—King Arthur, Avalon, and the haunting ruins of the once-mighty Abbey,
dismantled by Henry VIII. History and mystery at every turn.

📸 Birdwatching Bliss at Ham Wall

Back at RSPB Ham Wall, our camera got a proper workout. Last
time it was an Osprey—this time, a Peregrine Falcon dazzled us, stirring up a
cloud of Lapwings. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better… a Glossy
Ibis made a rare encore appearance. Birding dreams do come true!

🚂 Steam & Smiles on the West Somerset Railway

Our final day was pure nostalgia: a Gala celebration on the
UK’s longest restored railway line. Gleaming steam engines, excited kids (and
grown-ups), and the unmistakable scent of bacon butties filled the air. A
perfect send-off.

🌟 Starling Murmuration Plans & A Top Campsite

We’re already counting down to November’s starling
spectacle. And a special shoutout to Old Oaks Touring campsite—easily one of
the best we’ve stayed at. Peaceful, pristine, and perfectly placed for Somerset
adventures.

Ready for round two with the starlings soon! 🐦✨
